Assistant Buyer
We’re seeking a trend-aware Assistant Buyer for a renowned British clothing retailer with a rich heritage. They are community and people-centric and have an opening for an enthusiastic individual to join their team as an Assistant Buyer within the Womenswear buying department.

Role Overview:
As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll collaborate closely with the Buyer and wider team, driving the success of our Ladieswear ranges. Your role will involve building strong supplier relationships, adapting styles, and contributing to the development of attractive and competitive product ranges.
This is what the role will involve, but it isn’t exhaustive:
Forge and nurture strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective collaboration across internal teams to support product development and procurement.
Engage actively with Creative, Marketing, and E-commerce teams to foster collaborative efforts that align with product strategies and market positioning.
Collaborate closely with the Buyer to adapt styles in response to market trends, conducting comprehensive competitive shop analysis to inform product range decisions.
Lead critical path meetings, presenting insights derived from market analysis and swiftly addressing potential issues to ensure seamless processes.
Partner with the Buyer in developing product ranges that resonate with target customers, maintaining a balance between price and quality to drive sales and profitability.
Analyse sales data meticulously, enabling timely trade reactions to optimize performance, while managing day-to-day administrative tasks efficiently.
What will you bring to the role?
You’ll have 1-2 years of Assistant Buyer experience within the fashion industry, preferably within womenswear. Demonstrate a strong ability to forecast fashion trends, and comp shop, and have a genuine interest in products – what looks good, what sells, and what commercial looks like for the brand.
You’ll have an in-depth understanding of current market trends and a keen eye for detail.
Excel proficiency is essential, as well as being organised and thorough in planning and keeping on top of critical paths. Knowledge of fabrics and fashion buying processes will definitely be a benefit in this role so you can jump straight in.
