About the role
Our client is seeking a dynamic Junior Merchandiser, or an Assistant Merchandiser looking for their next level to play a pivotal role in driving sales and profitability while expertly managing stock levels.
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape and elevate the merchandising function with a focus on innovation and leadership.
The ideal person will be a self-starter, looking to get stuck in and be part of a small but growing team. You’ll be ambitious and with the desire to progress to Merchandiser level within a year!

Key Responsibilities
Stock Management:
- Present detailed stock availability analysis in regular meetings, identifying strategic actions to meet future targets.
- Lead the stock ordering process, ensuring appropriate stock cover across all regions.
- Negotiate with suppliers and plan stock positions to enhance flexibility.
- Monitor supplier lead times for accurate stock forecasting.
- Contribute to the development of automated stock forecasting tools.
- Keep the team updated on stock positions by product department.
Supply Base Management:
- Build and maintain robust relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor on-time delivery performance and take proactive measures in case of delays.
- Share forecasts with suppliers to improve planning and reduce lead times.
- Play a key role in future sourcing and supply base strategy.
- Optimise supply chain constraints across a growing portfolio of suppliers.
Trading, Range Planning, Strategy & Forecasting:
- Present trading results and propose strategic actions to meet targets.
- Implement streamlined reporting systems to support product development.
- Communicate lessons learned to influence department strategy.
- Manage the critical path for new product ranges.
- React to weekly trading performance and capitalise on opportunities.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of 3 years of merchandising experience, preferably in luxury homewares or start-up environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from complex data.
- Strong communication skills and an innovative mindset.
- Initiative and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and proactive project management skills.
